Musicians Mobile, a company that provides professional in-home music lessons, recently brought South Bay families together for its annual student-produced Piano Pop concert.

More than 15 “bands for a day” played together and sang songs by pop artists Journey, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. The performers were joined by more than 150 residents who came out to support the efforts of the local music students.

Beyond this annual show, Musicians Mobile students and bands have applied their skills by volunteering entertainment at Celebrate Saratoga, the Saratoga Senior Center, Foodie Fun and fundraisers at Redwood Middle School.

The company believes that by playing music in a band setting, students develop their musicality, have more fun and learn to work as a team. Several performing students brainstormed new ideas to play music together to help nonprofit groups and bring music to people in their community.

One of the performers at the Oct. 27 show was 14-year-old Maya Prasad, who attends Saratoga High.

“A band is about entertaining others so that they can enjoy music in the best way possible. By performing at hospitals and senior centers, we can try to help people relax and live their lives in the best way possible,” said Maya.
