The California Highway Patrol has identified 66-year-old Nassima Obaidi and 52-year-old Harbans Chandi as two of the drivers involved in a three-vehicle crash that left a 19-year-old woman dead on state Highway 85 in Saratoga this morning.

Obaidi suffered major injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center after her car collided with a black Toyota Camry that was blocking the No. 2 northbound lane.

The Camry driver, who died in the collision, was traveling in the No. 3 lane around 5:15 a.m. when the car went into the right shoulder of the highway where it hit a brick wall. The car bounced back into traffic and came to a rest facing south in the No. 2 lane.

Chandi, who had been traveling behind Obaidi in the No. 2 lane, attempted to avoid the collision by changing to the No. 1 lane but the right side of his vehicle ended up colliding with the left front of the black Camry. He was not injured in the collision.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office, which did not immediately release her name. All three parties have been identified as San Jose residents.

The CHP is urging witnesses to call Officer B. Souza at (408) 467-5400 or (800) TELL-CHP.
