Police were searching backyards in a Palo Alto neighborhood early this morning looking for a pair of prowlers.
Residents called police around 1:30 a.m. and said they saw prowlers in the 800 block of Garland Drive, police Detective Max Nielepko said.
When officers arrived, they spotted two men in the area, but the men took off running and began jumping through backyards, he said.
Around 3 a.m., police called residents to notify them that they were conducting a search of all neighborhood backyards and to advise them to stay inside and lock their windows and doors, Nielepko said.
Officers brought in a police dog to search for the men, but they were not found, and the search was called off within a few hours, Nielepko said.
