Two men broke into a home in Gilroy on Tuesday morning and forced a female occupant into a room at gunpoint before leaving with items stolen from the home, according to a sheriff’s spokesman.
The robbery occurred at about 10:15 a.m. at a home in the 2400 block of Howell Lane, Sgt. Jose Cardoza said.
The victim, a woman in her mid-50s, was not harmed, but seemed “shaken up,” Cardoza said.
“She’s obviously traumatized, but she was not injured in any way,” he said.
Detectives are investigating whether the robbery was gang-related, Cardoza said.
He said the handgun was not fired. He would not comment on what items were taken or whether the victim lives at the house.
The first suspect was described as a white man, about 6 feet tall and around 170 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing and a black mask. He was armed with a handgun.
The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and around 150 pounds. He also was dressed in all black.
Investigators have released a sketch of that suspect.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Sgt. Quinonez or Detective Sgt. Poso at (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431.
