Suspected gang members arrested on suspicion of murder

Police arrested four suspected gang members Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Salinas.

Frank Sanchez was shot in the head and killed a couple of blocks from a police station at about 8:30 p.m. on July 28.

Sanchez was shot while sitting in a car in the vicinity of Capitol and West Market streets and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Following an investigation into the case, officers arrested suspected Sureno gang members Ricardo Martinez, 19; Roberto Montejano, 19; Alberto Colin, 22; and Santiago Ortiz, 20.

The suspects were booked into Monterey County jail on suspicion of homicide and conspiracy.
