San Jose will kick off its third annual “zombie crawl” and food drive for the Second Harvest Food Bank tonight.
Roughly 1,500 people are expected to participate in “Zombie-O-Rama,” an event organized by the San Jose Downtown Association to boost business in downtown San Jose and to collect canned or non-perishable food donations for the food bank.
Slave Labor Graphics, located at 577 S. Market St., is offering free zombie makeup application
this afternoon, and the event will officially begin at 6 p.m. at South First and William streets. A number of downtown businesses are offering food and drink specials for people dressed as zombies.
“Tonight the downtown is definitely a place where you can expect the unexpected,” said Rick Jensen, communications director for the downtown association.
Some of the activities include a 9:30 p.m. outdoor screening of the comedy “Fido,” a zombie parade for children at Gore Park, a costume contest and a fashion show.
The event is free and open to the public. More information is available at www.zombieorama.com.
