Nearly 3,000 people attended the Blossom Festival, held March 23 in the Heritage Orchard and Saratoga Civic Center.
During the event, Girl Scouts welcomed attendees with blossoms made from tissue paper, and students handed out prunes while Saratoga taiko drummers opened the event.
There were plenty of activities to keep people occupied during the day, from painting exhibits and a scavenger hunt to crafts for sale, old-fashioned cars and bikes on display and a Maypole dance, which attracted children and adults alike.
The success of this year’s festival comes on the heels of a March 20 Saratoga City Council meeting, where the council gave the largest share of its nearly $20,000 in community event grant funding to the Saratoga Historical Foundation for the 2014 Blossom Festival.
A short video of the festival is airing daily at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the local cable station, KSAR–Comcast 15, UVerse 99, and is also available online at ksar15.org/webvideo.
Thousands of people, and blossoms, turn out for city’s Blossom Festival
