Three firefighters were injured in a blaze at a Campbell auto shop on the night of Aug. 5.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department received reports of a one-alarm fire at 3373 S. Winchester Blvd. just after 11 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the AAMCO car repair shop, said the fire department. The shop occupies one side of the two-tenant building, according to the fire department.
The injured firefighters were taken to a hospital and all have since been released, said Cheryl Roth, a spokeswoman for the department.
The fire was declared under control at about 3:20 a.m. Its origin was narrowed down to the area of a parts washer in the middle of the wall, according to the fire department.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the building’s contents, and about $5,000 in damage to the building itself, said Roth. She added that the cause of the fire appears to have been failure of equipment or a heat source.
The blaze shut down the southbound lanes of Winchester Boulevard as police diverted traffic to assist fire crews battling the fire, police Capt. Charley Adams said.
PG&E also responded to assist.
