The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a 22-year-old man in Modesto in connection with two armed robberies in San Jose last month, police announced today.

U.S. Marshals located Thadias Washington-Orlando, of San Jose, and arrested him on a warrant charging him with two counts of armed robbery, according to San Jose police.

The first robbery occurred on Dec. 7 at a 7-11 store in the 1500 block of Branham Lane, police said.

The second robbery, involving a man Washington had allegedly contacted on Craigslist, took place on Dec. 8. Police said Washington met the victim in the 2900 block of Nieman Boulevard to conduct a transaction and then shot the man in a botched robbery.

The victim survived, police said.

Detectives turned the case over to the U.S. Marshals Service when it was believed that Washington had left the San Jose area.

He is being held at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
