A downed power line appears to have caused a brush fire that burned up to 30 acres near state Highway 87 in San Jose and injured two firefighters Wedmesday afternoon, fire Capt. Scott Kouns said.

The fire was reported at about 2:20 p.m. on Communication Hill near Curtner Avenue and was contained shortly after 4 p.m.

One firefighter suffered a dislocated knee and another experienced heat exhaustion. Both were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Fire officials initially reported an outhouse burned, but Kouns later said it was some type of pump surrounded by wood that was damaged.

Cal Fire, Central Fire and the Milpitas Fire Department assisted in the response.
