A 17-year-old Salinas boy shot to death in Castroville on Monday night has been identified by the Monterey County coroner’s office as Jose Cordova.
Cordova was shot at about 10:35 p.m. in the area of 11500 Speegle Street, sheriff’s officials said.
He was found unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Cmdr. Mike Richards said. He was airlifted to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he was later pronounced dead.
Richards declined to comment on possible shooting suspects.
“It’s a very active investigation right now,” he said.
Cordova is scheduled to undergo a forensic examination on Wednesday.
