San Jose police are investigating a hit-and-run collision early Sunday morning that left an 18-year-old woman in critical condition.

The victim, Erika Luna, was walking in the area of Tierra Buena Drive and Fontaine Road at about 2:40 a.m. when she was struck by a gray SUV, police Officer Jose Garcia said.

Luna was dragged about 2,000 feet and was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition, Garcia said.

He said Luna suffered a crushed hip and injuries to her left leg.

Police are searching for the vehicle and the driver, who has not yet been identified.

“We suspect the vehicle has front-end damage, but we don’t know to what extent,” Garcia said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department’s traffic investigations unit at (408) 277-4654 or Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP (7867).

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the driver. Luna’s family is also contributing a $2,000 reward.
