The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office today identified Violet D’Ambrosia as the victim of a fatal crash over the weekend on state Highway 17 in San Jose.
The 88-year-old San Jose resident died after the car she was in struck a wooden fence on a residential property and a concrete wall of a highway pedestrian overcrossing near the intersection of Downing Avenue and Longshore Drive on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 56-year-old San Jose woman was driving the car, a 2001 white Honda Civic lost control, and was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
D’Ambrosia was in the front passenger seat of the Honda.
