Fire officials are investigating the cause of a wildland fire that burned about 112 acres near state Highway 152 in Gilroy on Tuesday afternoon, a Cal Fire battalion chief said.

The blaze, which burned in an unincorporated area near the 4700 block of Pacheco Pass Highway, was reported at about 1:20 p.m., Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford said.

Homes in the area were not damaged and no injuries were reported, Crawford said. The nearby Pacheco Pass Landfill was not affected.

The fire was contained around 4:20 p.m. and controlled by 6 p.m. It caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to cattle grazing land, Crawford said.

The California Highway Patrol, California Department of Transportation, South Santa Clara County Fire District and the Gilroy and San Jose fire departments responded to assist.
