Residents in San Mateo County warned about stolen speakers scam

Millbrae police are warning residents in San Mateo County to beware of a scam involving people selling seemingly high-end stolen stereo speakers at a reduced price out of a sport utility vehicle or van.

Police said typically about two or three perpetrators approach residents and represent themselves as employees of local stereo stores who are selling products as either stolen merchandise or merchandise that is legitimate at a reduced price.
