Police are looking for two people suspected of stabbing a man Tuesday afternoon as he was sitting in a car that was stopped at an intersection in Gilroy.
The stabbing occurred at about 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Leavesley Road and Forest Street, according to police.
The suspects approached the victim as he was sitting in the passenger seat of a car stopped at a signal light, police said. One of the suspects reached through the open window and stabbed him with a knife several times before fleeing, police said.
The driver sped off to a nearby gas station and called for help. The victim, a 20-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
The suspect with the knife was described as a Hispanic man about 19 or 20 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 150 pounds. He had a light complexion and short black hair, and was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.
The second suspect was also described as Hispanic, between 16 and 18 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches tall, and 200 pounds. He had a medium complexion and short black hair, and was wearing a black T-shirt.
Officers recovered a knife at the scene.
Police are investigating the stabbing as possibly gang related.
