Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of assaulting two men who tried to intervene as he beat a woman in San Jose last month.
The crime occured around 2 a.m. on Oct. 30 on South First and Devine streets, police said.
Two San Jose residents, ages 36 and 47, told police they saw a man beating and dragging a woman who appeared to be in her mid-20s. They tried to intervene and come to the woman’s aid, but the suspect attacked and knocked them unconscious for nearly 15 minutes, police said.
The victims suffered serious facial lacerations and head trauma in the attack.
A passerby found the men unconscious and notified police. The suspect and female victim were gone by that time.
The woman was described as either Asian American or white and Hispanic, with a medium height and build. She was wearing a dark suit and skirt or dress and her hair was above her shoulders.
The suspect was described as a white man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a lean build. He was clean shaven, with short dark hair and was wearing a shirt and dark slacks.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Wellman at (408) 277-4161 and those who wish to remain anonymous may call the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP (7867).
