A Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy came to the rescue of a 17-day-old infant who stopped breathing this morning in Campbell, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
When the baby girl ceased breathing at about 7 a.m., her grandmother took her to Goodies Good Eats, a restaurant at 2201 South Bascom Ave. frequented by police officers and sheriff’s deputies, Sgt. Rick Sung said.
A deputy at the restaurant, who is also a licensed chiropractor, determined the infant did not have a pulse and was able to resuscitate her.
Once the baby was resuscitated, she was taken by ambulance to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where she is in stable condition, police said.
The infant is being medically evaluated, Sung said. He said it does not appear that any crime occurred.
