A Chihuahua puppy stolen Friday from the care of the San Francisco Animal Care and Control might be in danger of cruel treatment and improper care, the agency announced today.

The puppy, which was scheduled to become available for adoption Saturday, was stolen between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

The puppy is described to have a distinctive golden brindle color with white markings and weighs approximately 2 pounds.

Surveillance camera footage depicted two suspects who authorities believe gained unauthorized access to a locked area of the building.

The staff is encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the puppy or suspects to call Animal Care and Control’s emergency line at (415) 554-9400.
