A man was struck and killed by a car while landscaping in Morgan Hill on Wednesday morning, according to police.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old Salvador Pedraza, was struck around 9:30 a.m. by a car driven by Joseph Jaghab, according to police.
Jaghab, a 65-year-old San Carlos resident, was driving south on Hale Avenue when he veered off the roadway south of Llagas Road and landed in a drainage ditch, according to police.
The car continued south and ran into a telephone pole, breaking it, before coming to rest.
Pedraza was transported by helicopter to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Police believe Jaghab was driving recklessly before the collision. He was transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with moderate injuries.
Pedraza was a resident of Sunnyvale and worked at Nueva Vista, a residential care facility for mentally ill people.
The collision is under investigation.
