The city of Sunnyvale celebrated Wednesday the opening of a pair of overcrossings that provide pedestrians and cyclists a safe route over state Highway 237 and U.S. Highway 101.
“This is a great day,” said Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority spokeswoman Jennie Loft. “(The cyclists) were thrilled about the fact that they were able to have a connector to the other side of the highway in a direct fashion.”
The ceremony was a culmination of 19 months of construction overseen by the city, with the majority of the $7 million construction cost funded by the VTA.
