Chico police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old California State University, Chico student from San Jose on Monday morning.
Police and firefighters responded at about 10:35 a.m. to a report of a woman unconscious at a home in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street in Chico.
Arriving officers found the woman not breathing and pronounced her dead, police said. She has been identified as San Jose resident Gina Marie Maggio.
Investigating officers determined that Maggio had spent the night at the home after visiting a friend.
Police have not detected signs of foul play and are awaiting a toxicology report to determine the cause of Maggio’s death.
