The U.S. Coast Guard came to the rescue of three boaters early this morning after their 18-foot boat ran aground during a fishing trip Saturday near Suisun Bay north of Pittsburg in Solano County.
The men called 911 around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and said they had disembarked their vessel after it ran aground in low tide in the Montezuma Slough, the Coast Guard said.
To salvage the vessel, the boaters said they’d have to remain in the area until high tide.
The Vallejo station of the Coast Guard was able to locate the stranded boaters but determined the area was inaccessible due to low tide, according to the Coast Guard, which remained in communication with the boaters through a marine radio.
A helicopter was dispatched to the area just before 1 a.m. and the boaters were located and rescued nearly an hour later, the Coast Guard said.
The men were taken to the Napa Airport with no injuries. The Coast Guard notified the owner of the vessel about the incident and made arrangements to salvage the vessel at a later date.
