Early-morning apartment fire displaces dozens

Nearly 30 people were displaced by a fire early this morning at a Monterey apartment complex.

The fire was reported at about 3:30 a.m. at a complex at 2000 David Ave.

Six fire engines and two fire trucks responded, and firefighters extinguished the blaze within half an hour.

No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross was contacted for assistance.

Three apartments and three vehicles were damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
