An evacuation order issued earlier today for residents in the Felton Grove area in Santa Cruz County has been lifted, a county spokeswoman said.
The order was lifted at 3:45 p.m. after the San Lorenzo River at Big Trees appeared to have stabilized, spokeswoman Dinah Phillips said.
Late this morning, warning sirens were sounded to alert the area’s 100 to 200 residents about the river’s rapid rising, reaching above 18 feet this afternoon.
But by 4 p.m., the river had receded to 13 feet, Phillips said.
