Alameda County fire investigators have determined a blaze at a vacant car dealership in unincorporated Hayward that burned for more than two hours Tuesday morning was likely electrical in nature, according to a fire spokeswoman.

The two-alarm fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. at 20095 Mission Blvd. in a building that was previously occupied by Jeep and Chrysler dealership, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

She said the building is now owned by the Alameda County Redevelopment Agency.

About 40 firefighters at the scene had the fire mostly contained at about 4:30 a.m. and reported it controlled around 6 a.m., according to a fire dispatcher.

Fire investigators determined the area of the fire’s origin in the attic above the electrical panel at the dealership, Knowles said.

Investigators ruled out all causes aside from electrical and the blaze is not being treated as suspicious, according to Knowles.

Knowles said no one was injured in the fire but the front half of the building has been completely destroyed.
