Former Secretary of State George Shultz will speak today at Stanford University about how purpose and values lead to a happy and fulfilling life.
The former Stanford professor emeritus and Hoover Institution fellow will deliver the second annual Harry’s Last Lecture on a Meaningful Life, which honors the late Stanford Law School professor Harry Rathbun.
Shultz was secretary of state during the Reagan administration from 1982 to 1989, and served in the Nixon administration as labor secretary from 1969 to 1970 and as Treasury secretary from 1972 to 1974.
The lecture, titled “The Power of Ought,” will be held at 7 p.m. in Stanford Memorial Church.
