A 22-year-old Santa Cruz man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly vandalizing a motel room and acting violently towards others, according to Santa Cruz police.
John Kamandulis was arrested for the incident reported around 6 p.m. at a motel in the 300 block of Ocean Street.
Witnesses and motel staff told officers that Kamandulis had refused to leave the motel after several guests had complained about his behavior, police said.
Kamandulis instead cursed at the staff and chucked his bicycle through the window of a motel room. He then entered the room of another guest and hurled a plastic bottle at the guest after he was asked to leave.
An officer found Kamandulis crossing the Riverside Bridge and noticed he was intoxicated. As the officer tried to arrest him, Kamandulis twice spat in the officer’s face and also hit the officer with a bag of food that he grabbed from the officer’s car.
Police booked Kamandulis into Santa Cruz County jail for vandalism, battery, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
