A man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing his ex-roommate’s home in unincorporated Salinas on Sunday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglary was reported just after midnight at a home in the 21900 block of Poppyfield Court. The victim had just arrived home when he saw someone driving away in a white Chevy Suburban, sheriff’s investigators said.

He recognized the driver as a former roommate, and when he saw his house had been burglarized, he drove over to the man’s house in Las Palmas Ranch.

When the victim asked for his things back, the suspect allegedly brandished two large kitchen knives and threatened him, sheriff’s officials said.

The victim called 911 and deputies arrived at the home to arrest the suspect, but he allegedly refused to comply with their orders, according to the sheriff’s office.

One officer used a baton on him after he allegedly assumed a fighting stance, sheriff’s officials said. He was taken into custody after an officer used a Taser stun gun on him.

The suspect, identified as Adriaan Knox, a 26-year-old Salinas resident, was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of burglary, brandishing a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, parole violation, making terrorist threats, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

Deputies recovered the knives and stolen items, among them an Xbox, video games and a 32-inch TV, inside his home. They also found a methamphetamine pipe.
