A 29-year-old man died Sunday evening in a rollover crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Salinas, according to the Monterey County coroner’s office.
Santiago Garcia-Martinez, a resident of Salinas, died following the crash on the highway just north of Market Street shortly before 9 p.m.
He was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the coroner’s office.
An autopsy was conducted today to determine the cause of Garcia-Martinez’s death.
In the meantime, arrangements are being made to transfer Garcia-Martinez’s remains to his family in Ocampo, Mexico.
