The California Highway Patrol and San Jose police are investigating the discovery of a Cadillac belonging to a missing San Jose woman in unincorporated Santa Clara County this morning.
A work crew found a white 2001 Cadillac STS covered in brush at about 7:45 a.m. off of state Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The car belonged to 83-year-old Ann Marie Vlahovich, who was reported missing by a neighbor on Feb. 2, police spokesman Dirk Parsons said.
Members of the work crew discovered the Cadillac as they were descending the hill, Parsons said. The car was hidden by brush and couldn’t be seen even from the side of the roadway, Parsons said.
The car was covered in dirt and appeared to have been there for some time, Parsons said. The roof and sides were damaged, he said.
There is no indication of foul play, and the CHP is investigating how the car ended up there, Parsons said.
He said he could not comment on whether a body had been found as well.
Vlahovich, who lives in the 800 block of Kingfisher Drive, was last seen by a neighbor on Jan. 20.
On March 21, police and a county search-and-rescue team renewed the search for her, scouring parts of San Jose by ground and helicopter.
