Mountain lion sighting near Christmas Hill Park

A mountain lion was spotted Tuesday near Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, police said today.

Residents and park personnel have reported seeing a lion in the area of Uvas Creek Levee Trail and Christmas Hill Park, at 7150 Miller Ave., according to police.

A deer found dead near the levee trail was possibly attacked by a lion, police said.

The Department of Fish and Game has been contacted regarding the sightings.

Residents are advised to steer clear of the lions should they encounter them and to call police at (408) 846-0350 or 911 if a mountain lion is aggressive or near a school or park.
