Firefighters and PG&E crews have capped a gas leak at a home in San Jose this afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.

The gas leak was reported at 1:07 p.m. at a home located at 15427 Lone Hill Road, fire Capt. Chuck Rangel said. PG&E crews contained the leak at 2:26 p.m., he said.

It appears a person working in the front yard of that house ruptured a gas line with a hand tool, Rangel said.

The gas line is about three-quarters of an inch in size, Rangel said.

No injuries were reported. There are five homes in the area, but only one was occupied and it was evacuated, Rangel said. The occupants were allowed to return home as of 3 p.m.

A hazardous materials team assisted in the response to the leak.

The gas leak prompted the closure of Lone Hill Road from Los Gatos Almaden Road to Laurinda Drive. The road was scheduled to be reopened around 3 p.m., Rangel said.
