Police Chief Rob Davis will remain with the San Jose Police Department for now, as the city of Dallas has chosen someone from within its ranks to head its police department.

Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm announced this morning that First Assistant Chief David Brown will replace David Kunkle, who is retiring at the end of this month after six years as police chief.

Suhm visited Davis, who was one of six finalists for the job, on April 15 as part of the hiring process.

The other finalists were Police Chief Art Acevedo of Austin, Texas; Police Chief Robert Crump White of Louisville, Ky.; and two other internal finalists, Daniel Garcia and Floyd Simpson.
