Police investigate city’s 20th homicide of the year

A man was shot and killed tonight in the parking lot of the San Jose Convention Center in the city’s 20th homicide of the year, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.

The shooting was reported at about 8:51 p.m. at the convention center at 135 West San Carlos St.

Arriving officers discovered that a man who appeared to be in his mid to late 20s was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, according to Lopez.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was connected to a car show at the convention center, which was attended by nearly 10,000 people, Lopez said.

No suspect information was immediately available.
