An officer with the Salinas Police Department pleaded not guilty to two felony sexual battery charges at his arraignment in court today, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
Salinas police Officer Jesus Sanchez is free on bail after he was arrested on July 6 for crimes he allegedly committed between May 2002 and May 2005, according to Monterey County District Attorney Dean D. Flippo.
An investigation into the crimes, allegedly involving the same victim, is continuing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call district attorney’s office Investigator Tracey Spencer at (831) 796-6042.
A judge will set a date for Sanchez’ preliminary hearing on Aug. 18 at the Monterey County Superior Court in Salinas.
