Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a pair of suspects involved in an armed robbery outside a Safeway grocery store in San Jose last month.
The robbery occurred about 3:40 a.m. on July 25 outside the Safeway, located at 2558 Berryessa Road.
An armed man wearing a sports jersey and a bandana on his face confronted a 60-year-old security guard outside the store and demanded the victim’s gun, according to police.
The victim did not have a gun on him, but the suspect took his personal items, police said.
Meanwhile, another man whose face was also covered with a bandana took beer from the store, police said. Both men ran toward Berryessa Road and remain at large.
The victim was not harmed in the robbery, police said.
The first suspect was described as an Asian or white man in his 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build. He had short, dark hair and dark eyes and was wearing a dark-colored sports jersey, blue denim pants, tennis shoes, and a bandana covering his face.
The second suspect was described as an Asian man in his early to mid-20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and about 160 pounds. He had dark eyes and black hair and was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, black T-shirt, dark pants, and a dark bandana covering his face.
The Police Department is investigating the robbery and is asking anyone with information to call Detective Jason Tanner of the robbery unit at (408) 277-4166. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP (7867).
