Salinas police are looking for witnesses to the shooting of a 13-year-old boy near Santa Rita Park on Saturday night.
The victim was walking near the park in the 200 block of East Bolivar Street at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when someone in a green sedan shot at him, Cmdr. Tracy Molfino said.
Police found the boy suffering from two gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
He was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Today, he is recovering at the hospital and is in stable condition, Molfino said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, which appears to be gang-related, Molfino said. Police believe there were at least two people in the sedan, which was last seen heading east on East Bolivar Street.
Officers are investigating physical evidence they found at the scene of the shooting.
