A 33-year-old woman was killed in a crash on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Jose early this morning, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The woman is a San Jose resident, but the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office is withholding her name until her family is notified.

At about 12:05 a.m., the woman was driving south on Highway 880 just north of state Highway 87 when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of her Toyota Camry and crashed into the center divider, causing the car to overturn, CHP Officer Steven Griefer said.

The woman exited the vehicle and was standing in the No. 1 lane when a Honda Civic traveling at an estimated 68 mph struck her.

The driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old San Jose man, remained at the scene afterward and officers determined he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Griefer said.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
