Suspect sketch and video released in connection with March sexual assault

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office today released video footage and a sketch of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in Aptos last month.

The alleged sexual assault occurred on March 27 at about 7 p.m. near Mission Street and the Highway 1 bypass, where detectives said a female victim accepted a ride offered by a man who drove her to Aptos and then sexually assaulted her.

The victim later reported the incident to law enforcement.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 30 years old, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds. He has a pencil-thin mustache and goatee, a medium complexion and was last seen wearing a dark hat.

His vehicle was described as an older 1970s large chocolate-brown two-door car with a tan interior.
