Weekend work at Hamilton Station to affect light rail service

By Khalida Sarwari

Light rail service at three stations in Campbell and at one San Jose station will be affected the weekend of Sept. 26, a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority spokeswoman said.

Service will not be available between the Winchester station in Campbell and the Bascom station in San Jose to allow for seismic upgrades and repairs to retaining walls and light rail track near the Hamilton station in Campbell.

The VTA will offer free substitute bus service to connect the Hamilton, Winchester and Campbell stations, which will be closed. The comparatively slower bus service, however, will require riders to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to reach their destinations on time.

The service interruption and station closures will occur again the weekend of Oct. 3.
