A 24-year-old man who was killed at a San Jose residential care facility Tuesday night following a confrontation with a roommate earlier that day appears to have been strangled, police said.

Police have arrested Alex Nakayama, 28, in connection with the murder, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. at a care facility in a converted home located in the 1800 block of St. Andrews Place, Officer Jose Garcia said.

Officers arrived to find the victim unconscious, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police believe there might have been some sort of confrontation or dispute between the men earlier in the day that led to the murder.

The motive remains under investigation.

Nakayama was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
