All lanes on Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose were reopened this afternoon after a car spun out into sand barrels and blocked the Alum Rock off-ramp for nearly four and a half hours, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP Officer Aaron Quistad said that an officer who responded to the incident was struck by an oncoming car and was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. It is unknown whether the officer was inside his car, Quistad said.
A Sig-alert issued at 7:42 a.m. was canceled at about 12:20 p.m.
