Two northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose were closed this morning after a car spun out into sand barrels and blocked the Alum Rock off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.
The No. 3 and 4 lanes of the highway remained closed at about 8:30 a.m.
CHP Officer Aaron Quistad said that an officer who responded to the incident was struck by an oncoming car and was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. It is unknown whether the officer was inside his car, Quistad said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 7:42 a.m.
Officers were still clearing up the sand barrels as of 8:25 a.m.
