The city of San Jose will hold a series of community meetings beginning Tuesday to gather input about the recruitment of a new police chief.
City spokesman Tom Manheim said a nationwide search for police Chief Rob Davis’ replacement will begin soon, but the city will not rule out any internal candidates being considered for the post.
Davis announced in late July that he would retire at the end of October. He has been chief for six years and with the department for 30 years.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Roosevelt Community Center, located at 901 E. Santa Clara St.
Another meeting will be held on Wednesday at the Tully Branch Library, located at 880 Tully Road, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Three meetings will be held the following week, beginning on Aug. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, located at 200 E. Santa Clara St.
A meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at West Valley Library, located at 1243 San Tomas Aquino Road.
The final meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eastside Union High School District Office, located at 830 North Capitol Ave.
