Both directions of U.S. Highway 101 in San Mateo have reopened this afternoon after the roadway was briefly closed to allow PG&E crews to repair damaged power wires, a PG&E spokesman said.
The outage was reported around 7:15 a.m. in the area of Highway 101 at Kehoe Avenue, after seagulls hit power wires, PG&E spokesman Matt Nauman said.
The outage initially left about 7,400 customers in the dark, Nauman said. As of 12:25 a.m., power had been restored to all customers.
The California Highway Patrol closed Highway 101 in both directions so that PG&E crews could do the repairs.
Southbound lanes reopened at 11:57 a.m. and northbound lanes reopened at 12:15 p.m., Nauman said.
