Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder of Vincent Tran Le in San Jose more than a month ago.
Police arrested Juan Carlos Reyes Cortez, of San Jose, June 30 on suspicion of stabbing Le, an 18-year-old San Jose resident, on May 28 in the 1700 block of Schulte Drive.
An investigation revealed Le was stabbed during an altercation between two rival gangs. Gang-related slogans and hand gestures were exchanged, witnesses told police, during and before the altercation.
Police believe Le was friends with members of one of the involved gangs. The degree of his involvement remains under investigation.
The investigation also revealed Le had been stabbed during a similar gang-related altercation May 1 in the same area as this more recent stabbing took place.
It is unknown whether Le was targeted. The motive for the altercation remains under investigation.
Since his arrest Cortez has been in custody on a parole hold, police said.
