Petaluma police are investigating the armed robbery of a woman at a hotel in the city Saturday night.
The robbery occurred at about 9:50 p.m. at the Quality Inn hotel at 5100 Montero Way.
The woman reported she was trying to enter the main hallway to her motel room when a male suspect dressed in all dark clothing grabbed her from behind, pointed a knife at her and demanded money, police said.
The victim gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, who then fled in a light-colored, mid-1980s four-door Toyota Camry hatchback with damage to the right front fender, according to police.
The suspect is described as a white male, clean shaven with a thin build, standing at about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 to 170 pounds. He wore earrings and possibly a nose ring.
