Police have released a sketch of a man who groped a 15-year-old girl on her way to cheerleading practice in Watsonville on Thursday.
The girl was walking alone and talking on her cell phone in the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard at about 2:10 p.m. when a man came up behind her and sexually assaulted her, police said.
The girl managed to break free from his grasp and escape. The suspect ran behind a building at 1941 Freedom Blvd. and remains at large, police said.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and between 140 and 150 pounds. He had a shaved head and was wearing a green Aeropostale T-shirt with ’87’ on a sleeve. He also wore green and white plaid shorts and white shoes.
