San Francisco police responded tonight to a possible home invasion robbery, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded around 6:15 p.m. to a 911 report of a home invasion robbery in the 1500 block of Newhall Street.

Officers established a perimeter around the home after learning that armed suspects were possibly inside the home, according to police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams.

As of about 9:45 p.m., officers and paramedics were still at the scene and attempting to make contact with the suspects inside, Williams said.

It was not immediately known how many suspects or residents were inside the home.
